While I love summer, October – February really is my favorite time of year. September is an exciting month too with duck football starting but October starts the madness that continues on through Jan 2 at least. Every single weekend from the first of Oct – the first of Jan is always jam packed and getting more and more so every year. October is the worst but always so fun and just flies by – we have my bday, Shaun’s bday and a new oct addition, Greyson’s bday all in the midst of duck football! In addition, Halloween is one of our favorites as well as all the fall traditions – pumpkin patch, baking, decorating, halloween fun and more! Next is November, not quite as busy with celebrations, but full of football and of course Thanksgiving and black friday and then comes December! December brings the end of regular season college football, basketball madness (usually), family and more family, which is always a blast, traveling, the coast (usually, this year that is mover to Jan due to Shaun having to be oncall once a month and stay in town) and of course decorating, baking and going to all the light displays/holiday events we can find & then there is NYE/our dating anniversary and a bowl game for our DUCKS, then comes skiing and time to hit the mountains in Jan/Feb and Valentine’s Day, which yes, I still make a big deal out of even though I think everyday you should treat each other special. ❤
I am constantly finding new things I want to do during these months, but honestly don’t know how I can fit anymore in! Some of my favorite current traditions include –
Our WA family xmas trip the weekend before xmas (one year we went to Seattle first this year we are hitting Leavenworth and Seattle).
A stormy coast weekend to Lincoln City in Dec. (last year it was over xmas with my parents, this year they went last weekend and we will have to wait until Jan) but the trip always includes renting a beach house, playing board games, watching holiday movies, reading while watching the waves roll in, cooking meals, shopping in the towns, visiting the outlets and buying a COACH, walks along the stormy beach, Mo’s, the casino and seeing a movie in the small town theatre.
Driving around looking at lights and going to the Grotto in PDX, this year Zoolights and the waterfront ships will be added to the list, so excited!
Holiday movies – Elf, Christmas Vacation, Scrooged, A Christmas Story, Nightmare before Xmas, The Grinch, Santa Clause, Charlie Brown Xmas, The Holiday and more.
Baking xmas treats and making dipped pretzels.
Our annual holiday friends xmas with the Quesenberrys, Briggs and Burchs.
The hubby and I always get each other a special ornament each year ❤
Starting this year, each year we will buy each other a board game off our list, I have so many as well as my hubby’s annual company Xmas party!
& I am sure there are more things, but these are just the ones that I look forward to each and every year!
